Transfigured, Stephen Arthur, 1998
An homage to Canadian artist Jack Shadbolt--the late "eminence gris" of West Coast modernism--made entirely of 80 of his paintings animated as interacting entities in a contiguous environment. Transformation. Surrealism. Symbolic abstraction. Fine art animation. Filmmaker Stephen Arthur took 3 years, working full time, to create the 5-minute film (released in 1998).
