I was deeply saddened this morning to hear of the passing of animator, artist and teacher Run Wrake. His wife posted this today on his Facebook page:
It is with incredible sadness that I have to let you know that our darling Run passed away very suddenly at 5am on Sunday morning as an end result of his cancer. He had spent a beautiful Saturday with his two children Florence and Joe, his sister Fiona and myself. We left him at 7pm doing what he loved best- drawing and animating with peg bar and paper. I was with him for his last moments. We love you Run. Lisa Wrake.
My deepest sympathies to his loved ones.
He was brilliant and inspiring, and his tremendous talent and originality will be missed.
I'll post more of his work tomorrow.
I've already posted these, but watch them again with me.

This is very sad news indeed - I've only seen Rabbit but it's easily amongst the top 50 animated shorts of all time.
ReplyDeleteRIP to Wrake.
Very sad news to hear this. :(
ReplyDeleteHis work has been a huge inspiration for me, both in his repetitive animations loops, musical sensibilities, and incredibly creative and unreal imagination.
I was only talking about his work to friends a few nights ago. Very sad news.
Thanks for posting this.
A tremendous loss. Heartbreaking. God cancer sucks.
