SKRBLDRONE 1 and trailer for Drone Not Drones 2, Emily Kaplan, 2015
Because if I can't use my own blog for a bit of shameless self promotion..
I, along with three other very talented individuals (Wonderhaus, Jenny Schmid and Ben Arson) will be providing visuals for this year's Drone Not Drones, a 28 hour continuous drone/concert/art piece that will be taking place at The Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis from Friday, January 30th at 7 PM to Saturday, January 31st 10 PM. Proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.
The trailer with the full roster of performers, which uses footage I compiled of me messing around with projections on tulle:
And some of the generative watercolor animation I made and messed with, along with a drone generated from an MQ-9 Reaper taxiing, launching, and landing (Audacityfied all to Hell)

Couch gag from The Simpsons: What To Expect When Bart's Expecting,Michal Socha, 2014
So this came on last night, and I jumped up and down on the couch and said 'OOH! I think that's Michal Socha!"
It was really dorky and nobody cared.

Bun Whoopee Cushion, Dave Packer, 2015
A few days ago, I was in an aggressively awful funk. I had spent, nay, wasted, too much time, talking to overly serious people about overly serious things. People who were very convinced of their rightness, and convinced that their seriousness made them smarter and more important than they actually were.
This was not true at all. However, pointing that out to them would have been unnecessarily escalatory and entirely unproductive. So, rather than pointing out that serious does not equal important or intelligent, I backed away quietly and made my way to better places, where people remember that little things and funny things are important, too.
In that darkest of times, I saw this on Twitter, and it was exactly what I needed, distilled to its very essence.
Thank you, Dave from Sheepfilms. This is perfection.
