Jumping, Tezuka Osamu, 1984

Incredible short animation by Astro Boy creator Tezuka Osama.

Particularly badass because it was all shot in ONE CUT. Yeah. BADASS.

  1. I don't remember the estimate, but some 3-4,000 drawings and three years of work went into producing this 6 minute romp around the world. Originally Tezuka wanted to render it as watercolors on paper, but after finding out how time-consuming that idea was (namely shooting a bit of it in a pencil test), he switched to conventional ink & paint on cel instead. I think this won a few awards at some film fests though I can't remember any for right now.
